The Academy Conferences represent open fora at which experts meet and discuss a particular topic, with the aim of arriving at a common understanding of that topic and formulating core policies that can help developing countries overcome their development difficulties.

The conferences are also intended to be educational for participants, and focal points through which specialized organizations can forge long-term co-operation links.
