Prof. Amdulla O. Mehrabov
Prof. Amdulla O. MEHRABOV was born in Bolnisi, Georgian Republic, former USSR, 15
April 1952. He is of Azerbaijan nationality and lives in Baku, Azerbaijan. He is married with
three children. Dr. A. Mehrabov was awarded a Doctorate of Science from Tbilisi State
University, Georgia, 1989; a PhD from Lomonosov Moscow State University, USSR, 1978
in Solid State Physics/Materials Sciences degrees and a Master’s degree in Physics from Baku
State University, Azerbaijan, 1974. He has been a visiting Professor, Department of
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara,
Turkey since 1992-; Professor and Head of Department of Physics Baku State University,
Azerbaijan, (1990-1999); Associate Professor, (1983-1990) and Assistant Professor, (1978-
1983) at the same Department.
Prof. A. Mehrabov worked also as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Dept. of Materials Science
and Engineering in the Tokyo University, Japan for 1 year (All-Soviet Union Visiting
Researcher Award in Japan, 1984/1985) and as a Fullbright Professor at Dept. of Chemical
and Nuclear Engineering in the University of California at Santa Barbara, USA for four
months (All-Soviet Union Lecturing and Research Award in USA, 1991/1992).
Dr. A. Mehrabov major fields of specializiation include Alloy-Design, Metal&Alloy Physics, Computational Materials Science, Intermetallics and Atomic/Magnetic Ordering, Bulk Amorphous/Nanocrystalline Materials, Magnetic&Magnetocaloric Materials. He is a author of
200 research works which are well-known in scientific public and has been published in
leading international journals.
