Prof. Qurashi Mohammed
Ali
Prof. Ali was born in 1951, in Munagaza/Sudan. He is married with 6
children.
Prof. Ali graduated from the University of Khartoum with a BSc in Basic
Medical Sciences (Human Anatomy) in 1974. He obtained his PhD in Human
Anatomy and Experimental Morphology, from the University of London (UK) in
1978, and afterwards a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), from the
University of Khartoum in 1981, and a Masters Degree (MMRD) in Diagnostic
Radiology from Alexandria University (Egypt) in 1985.
He worked as a Lecturer of Human Anatomy at the Universities of Khartoum
and Gezira (Sudan), and later as Assistant and Associate Professor of
Anatomy and Radiology at the University of Gezira (Sudan) during
1981-1988, King Faisal University (Saudi Arabia) during 1988 and Sultan
Qaboos University (Sultanate of Oman) during 1989-1994. In 1991, he was
promoted to Professor by the University of Gezira.
Prof. Ali was appointed as Professor of Anatomy and Radiology and Dean
Faculty of Medicine Ommdurman Islamic University (Sudan), in 1995-1996.
He was appointed Undersecretary, Ministry of Health in 1996-1998. He was
appointed as Vice Chancellor of Al Zaim Al Azhari University in 1998. A
post he occupies to the present day.
He contributed to the introduction of the integrated and problem-based
learning of human anatomy at the University of Gezira, and Sultan Qaboos
University. He was a teacher and an examiner to graduate candidates in
internal medicine, radiology, surgery and anatomy, University of Khartoum.
He continued to practice as consultant radiologist, in Ommdurman Teaching
Hospital, Ahmed Qasim Paediatric Hospital, Modern, Neilain and Al Alim
Medical Centres.
Prof. Ali published about 40 papers, 4 books on human anatomy,
radiological anatomy, and diagnostic radiology.
Prof. Ali was honoured by the President of Algeria, and Arab Union of
Physicians for the “Best Book” published in 1999.
Prof. Ali was elected as a Fellow of the IAS in 2001
