The management and direction of the Academy is the responsibility of an eleven member executive Council, which is elected by the General Assembly for a four-year term of office and which is subject to its control and supervision.

Accomplishing and planning future Academy activities are the major issues addressed by the Council at its twice annual meetings. Administrative and financial matters are also followed up and decided upon.
